3Doodler - The Cheapest Way to Create Your 3D Model

Searching for cheap 3D printer? Just try 3Doodler. Unlike other 3D printers, this isn't a tabletop rig hooked up to a computer.  Instead, it's just an unusually chunky pen that contains all the hardware, software and materials it needs inside the body.

To use the 3Doodler, you just use the pen to draw in the air (or on a piece of paper, if you're making a two-dimensional piece), with the actual product automatically extruding from the rear end when you press a button (it can produce the product as you draw if you keep your finger on the button the entire time).  Granted, it's going to take some imagination and creativity, but it does allow you to get started producing 3D-printed products sans the need to learn 3D modeling software tools.

You can draw flat on a piece of paper or follow along with stencils, if you're not all that artistically inclined. The real trick, however, is writing upward, essentially drawing in the air. There are two buttons on the front of the device, which let you control the speed of the extrusion. The higher speed works just fine on paper, but if you want to hit that third dimension, it's best to slow things down, allowing the plastic to solidify as you build up. It's also possible to create three-dimensional structures by printing out 2D sides and essentially welding them together afterward with a bit of plastic, as the company did with its rather impressive Eiffel Tower model.

Currently, 3Doodler is collecting backers on Kickstarter, where the project is fully funded many times over.  You can reserve yourself one starting at $75 (pen plus two bags of mixed color plastic).

This is teaser from 3Doodler :

iPotty - Kid's Dream for Toilet Training Gadget

Many peoples are staring at the same point on CES 2013. Yapsss that is iPotty, a toilet-training device for digitally connected kids. It's a fairly straightforward potty trainer with a holder designed for the iPad. There isn't a specific app to go with the $40 toilet, but parents can use any of the several options already available in the App Store. The idea is to get the kid to stay on the loo for as long as it takes to get the job done. Entertaining the little ones with an iPad may not be the worst way to achieve this goal.

Meet the iPotty, $40 children’s potty with built in iPad stand. This colorful contraption provides the perfect size potty for those being trained. Take off the top, insert the front ‘shield’ if needed, pop in your iPad – which remains out of the range of fire and has a plastic cover to ensure dryness.  Hopefully the kid will stay on the iPotty long enough to get engaged in the app you choose and take care of business.
